Bassoonist Hayden Mears Wins Peter Musson Memorial Prize at ADRS 2023 National Competition.

Rising bassoon talent Hayden Mears has won the Peter Musson Memorial Prize for best bassoon performance at the ADRS 2023 National Competition, held on August 20th at the Queensland Conservatorium.

This prestigious award recognises outstanding achievement in bassoon performance and honors the legacy of legendary bassoonist Peter Musson. Hayden’s exceptional skill and musicality earned him top honors among Australia’s leading young double reed players.

Next, Hayden will join the acclaimed Queensland Youth Symphony Orchestra on an international tour, performing in Singapore, Austria, and Germany. Following the tour, he will stay in Germany to study with world-renowned bassoonist Dag Jensen, participating in private lessons and a professional masterclass.

This milestone marks a significant step in Hayden Mears' journey as a professional bassoonist, gaining international experience and expert mentorship at the highest level.
